Based on the premise that different blood types affect the digestive system differently, a blood type diets require the participant to eat from a list of approved foods while avoiding others—all determined by the blood type of the participant.  The theory behind this weight loss method is that people with different blood types digest food differently, and may even be genetically predisposed to certain medical conditions.

Recommendations for each blood group include (but are not limited to) the following:

Blood Type O:  High protein diet

Blood Type A:  No red meat, Vegetarian

Blood Type B:  Balanced protein and vegetarian

Blood Type AB:  Mixed diet

While most nutritionists, doctors and scientists agree that there is not enough scientific evidence to support this weight loss method, it still remains popular within the weight loss community.  Many individuals have gained significant results using this weight loss plan.  Always consult with your physician prior to beginning any weight loss or exercise program.
